Of the home's six bathrooms, one particularly stands out given the inclusion of a custom made $50,000 solid brass freestanding tub which was flown from London enveloped in 80m of bubble wrap.

"When we unwrapped it on the street to get it through the door it actually stopped traffic," McKevitt said.

Although the former UK TV host revealed The Bradley Residence is owned by a family member, she remained tight-lipped about their identity, though records show the the home was bought in a trust linked to Don McKevitt with lawyer Michael Gleeson.

However, the designer who has reimagined the homes of Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, the Sultan of Brunei, the Queen of Spain and Queen Noor of Jordan to name only a few, shared the details behind bringing the historic grand dame into the 21st Century.

"Interestingly, they didn't want an old house. I’d avoided looking at this one because it was historic, but for whatever reason I did come and see it and within minutes of walking in I’d done a whole new plan in my head walked out and rang them up saying ‘This is the one’."

According to records, the property exchanged in early 2022 for $9.3m.

The kitchen features a stone cooktop flown in from Switzerland.

McKevitt says: "The point of an historic house done well is that you step in and it feels like it's kind of untouched."

While the house was already an updated five-bedroom home, McKevitt's top to bottom renovation has catapulted it into another class thanks to a host of imported luxury features including the special bathtub, a stone cooktop flown in from Switzerland and an Australian-first 3D electric fireplace.

"After I’d done the floor plan I then went off to Europe for a month and started sourcing things, looking at materials and really figuring out what would actually work," McKevitt said.

"Most of that time I was in London but I also went to the Netherlands and Paris.

"To make this home the amazing finished product that it is takes a great deal of planning."

According to McKevitt, who has worked on more than 500 homes including plenty of period properties such as a 82 million pound house in London's Regent Park, an historic renovation takes a special touch.

Midas touch: "My theory is to look after these old ladies with plenty of care."

Every corner is carefully considered.

"When people walk in, I know I will have failed at my job if they feel like the house has had stuff done to it," she said.

"The point of an historic house done well is that you step in and it feels like it's kind of untouched, apart from the more modern back areas."

She said getting the property to its current contemporary form was a "brutal" process involving moving walls, fireplaces, verandas and bathrooms.

"The trick is that when it's all done and dusted, somebody walks through and thinks it's seamless, they don't see what work went into it.

"That's just a skill that I drew out doing hundreds of old properties in London."

Winter's sorted.

In the bedrooms, too.

Unparalleled in its meticulous attention to detail, the now modern mansion has had every corner carefully considered.

"I ended up actually training a lot of the trades because even though some had worked on old buildings, they hadn't worked on that many," McKevitt said.

"And I always want to be respectful of these places.

"Sometimes trades would arrive with a jackhammer and I’d tell them to put it straight back in the truck because I wanted to do things brick by brick.

"My theory is to look after these old ladies with plenty of care, and make sure these buildings are still standing for hundreds of years to come.

"There's so much care and detail going into the planning of these jobs long before you get into the gorgeous kitchens and bathrooms."

The list of luxury inclusions is long and the finished product is a head-turning home.

The Bradley Residence has five bedrooms, four with ensuites, six bathrooms, high ornate ceilings, original and contemporary fireplaces, period stained glass windows, a main bedroom suite with deluxe ensuite and dressing room plus a site of the art European-inspired kitchen plus a wine cellar.

Outside there are four entertainment spaces, an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, child-friendly lawns, a pool with spa as well as a triple garage.
